A Note From Mary

As I was healing from illnesses, there were times I didn’t feel very good at all. You ask, “But, if I’m healing, shouldn’t I feel great?”

Toxins need to come out and as they do, you may not feel very well. This is actually necessary and you’ll soon feel better. Just like throwing out old clothes from your closet so there’s room for your new fancy duds, know your body is letting go of toxins and unhealthy particles so there’s more room in your cells and organs for health.

Healing Reactions
Occasionally after a session you may experience a healing reaction. In the process of healing, toxins are released from the body causing symptoms that feel similar to the old condition, or emotional issue, but in a diminished form.

In addition, if you have a condition that lingers or will not go away (for example, sinus or cold), know that it may surface and release after your session.

Other reactions include: feeling tired or full of energy, more frequent urination caused by your body’s detoxification, or feeling sad or angry due to the release of tension or old emotions.

What to do for Healing Reactions
Recognize that a healing reaction typically lasts only a couple of days and is confirmation that toxins are being released. Be comforted knowing that the old is leaving and making room for the new.

During this period, make time for yourself – bathe in warm water with 1 cup of Epsom salts (pulls out toxins that were released during your session), read a good book and pamper yourself.

Rest and drink plenty of water. Water flushes toxins from the body faster, reducing discomfort. Avoid the intake of stimulants such as alcohol and caffeine during this phase.

Healing Reactions
Occasionally after a session your companion may experience a healing reaction. In the process of healing, toxins are released from the body causing symptoms that may feel similar to the old condition, or emotional issue, but in a diminished form.

This is temporary and usually only lasts a couple of days. If your companion experiences a reaction it is a positive sign that the old condition is moving and healing is occurring.

As an example, if your dog has had issues with urinating in the house, it is very common to see a temporary increase in this behavior. It almost always stops completely after one or two more sessions.

Another example is if your horse has had issues with lameness. After the session, you may see a temporary increase in lameness for a few days as toxins are leaving the body. This is normal. Again, after a few sessions the lameness almost always goes away completely.

What to do for Healing Reactions
Recognize that a healing reaction typically lasts only a few days. During this time, it is normal to notice changes in eating habits.

Encourage your companion to rest and drink plenty of water. Water flushes toxins from the body faster, reducing discomfort. Make sure to give your animal companion a lot of love and support.

IMPORTANT TIP!
An easy yet powerful way to help your animal companion get through a healing reaction is to administer subcutaneous fluids, also known as subq fluids. When the body is detoxing, congestion can build up in the organs. Subq fluids help flush congestion out of the body. I have seen a multitude of animals, including my own, who were very close to passing but when they received these fluids they bounced back almost miraculously.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT TIP!
Astoundingly, my clients report that veterinarians don’t usually recommend fluids as part of a healing protocol. Especially animals who are experiencing “kidney failure” do very well when the kidneys get flushed. When my cat Missy had life-threatening kidney issues, I gave her subq fluids at home for a few weeks until her kidneys could function on their own again. Fluids are not just for kidney issues but are excellent for ridding the body of most kinds of congestion.

Your vet can give your animal companion subcutaneous fluids and they can teach you how to give them at home. Don’t be timid in asking your vet for these extremely helpful subq fluids for your precious animal companion! Even if your animal seems to drink plenty of water, they still may need this extra help in cleaning out their organs and cells.
